Nothing Bundt growth for these Las Vegas ladies

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas locals Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz combined recipes and friendship to build a business in 1997 and are still baking up ideas for expansion and franchise opportunities. Nothing Bundt Cakes opened its first storefront on Sarah Avenue and opened a second Las Vegas location at 9711 S. Eastern Ave. in 2002. Franchise inquiries began pouring in a year later.

Tripp and Shwetz learned about franchising after experiencing the challenges of operating a remote location with an expansion into Arizona. They attended conferences and hired a consultant and an attorney to help guide them through the franchise process. They opened their first franchise almost 10 years ago in San Diego and Nothing Bundt Cakes is now located in 25 states with 140 storefronts.

This year’s sales are expected to top $1.8 million and the company expects to open two more locations in Las Vegas and continue to explore franchise options all over the country.
