Southern Nevada sees 6 percent more high rollers in September

LAS VEGAS — Last week, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported a 6 percent surge in September tourism numbers when compared to the same period in 2014.  This was the highest percentage increase of Southern Nevada visitors since January 2014.

Las Vegas area visitors numbered 3.5 million, creating a bump in both occupancy and room rates for the month. Both weekend and Strip occupancy rates were above 90 percent and the average daily room rate increased by almost 9 percent to $125.85.

Convention attendance climbed nearly 24 percent with 470,624 people participating in fewer conventions than were produced last September.

At the close of the third quarter, 31.9 million people have visited Southern Nevada. This represents a visitation volume trending at 2.4 percent ahead of 2014.
